The littoral combat ship (LCS) USS Fort Worth takes seas over the bow as she steams into the wind while transiting the East China Sea. Future littoral combat ships are to be upgraded for survivability, capability, and lethality, which will be reflected in their reclassification as fast frigates. The existing LCS fleet will be backfitted with the upgrades as well.
