Overmatch Capability

U.S. ground forces need to be prepared for any situation. Saab provides the warfighter with a full range of solutions designed to maximize flexibility. The Carl Gustaf (M3 MAAWS) man-portable shoulder-fired weapon is a perfect example. It is an 84 mm recoilless multi-role system currently in service with the U.S. Army, as well as with special operations forces. The system offers soldiers various types of ammunition, ranging from armor penetration and anti-personnel, to rounds for use in urban areas. The M3 MAAWS has been continuously improved since its inception, and a new lightweight version is currently in development.

The AT4 CS combines a highly effective warhead with a unique disposable launch system. This provides the user with the tactical advantage of being able to fire the weapon from concealed spaces and fully utilize terrain for cover.

Saab is known for its world-class technology, cost-effective solutions and outstanding customer satisfaction across a wide range of current and next-generation radar and sensor systems. These include Giraffe AMB, Sea Giraffe AMB (now designated AN/SPS-77 in service with the U.S. Navy), G/ATOR, and 3DELRR. Our military ATC systems, including Multilateration, provide safe and effective solutions for a range of applications. Through our sensor systems facility in Syracuse, N.Y., we are also a major supplier of services and upgrades for the SPS-49 long-range radar system.

Information is a powerful asset in any mission, and our airborne surveillance offering ensures that our customers are always one step ahead. For direct intelligence gathering and reconnaissance, Saab offers the Skeldar rotary-winged, short-to-medium-range UAV. Operated from a tailored control station, it provides a wide variety of capabilities, including surveillance, reconnaissance, target acquisition and 3D mapping, and saves lives by identifying potential threats.
