Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV) 1.1 Moves Forward

USSOCOM releases draft RFP for GMV 1.1

Early this month, U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) representatives released the draft Request for Proposals for the special operations Ground Mobility Vehicle 1.1 program.

The draft RFP release follows the late-February clarification by USSOCOM of issues surrounding both the GMV 1.1 budget and quantities of the vehicles to be procured.

In the case of vehicle budget, command representatives acknowledged “recurring questions” that had surfaced “regarding the Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 and FY2013 President’s Budget position, and its effect on the GMV 1.1 acquisition.” While declining to address specific dollar figures by year, the representatives did confirm the existence of Research Development Test and Evaluation (RDTE) funds planned for the effort in both FY12 and FY13, “followed by procurement funds planned beginning in FY14.”

In terms of vehicle quantities to be produced, they pointed to an approved Capability Production Document (CPD) requiring 1,297 GMV1.1 vehicles to achieve Full Operational Capability.
