Congratulations to Craig Covault, who won the 2009 Aerospace Journalist of the Year Award for Space. Covault received the award at a dinner held during the opening festivities of the Paris Air Show in June.
Covault’s award-winning story, published in Spaceflight Now, described the successful mission of two DARPA “Mitex” satellites that rendezvoused with and inspected the disabled U.S. Air Force DSP 23 satellite.
Instituted by the British Royal Aeronautical Society and l’Aero-Club de France, the Journalist of the Year awards have been presented for the past 13 years at the Farnborough and Paris Air shows.
Covault has won the award three times previously, twice in the “Breaking News” category. He won the overall “Decade of Excellence” award in 2004.
Covault’s story on developments in military spaceflight, including coverage of the DARPA “Mitex” satellites, will appear in Faircount Media Group’s upcoming issue of The Year in Defense Aerospace Edition.
